Monochrome Weekend

This is the Lord Nelson Hotel in Sydney's Rocks, Australia's oldest licensed hotel, established in 1841 and home of Australia's oldest pub brewery. A damn fine place for a drink on a hot summer's night (or any time).

For more monochrome madness, visit Dragonstar's Weekend in Black and White.

The micro brewery is at the back of the bar and can bee seen though glass windows. There are also a lot of interesting bits and pieces on the walls.

Sky Watch Friday

Sydneysiders will know that is shot wasn't taken recently. We've had nothing but grey skies and high humidity for a couple of weeks.

Greek Orthodox Church, Kogarah

The Greek Orthodox Church in Kogarah looks extremely plain from the outside. Inside, however, is completely different.

Garden Island (4)

The highest point on the Island gives a 360 degree view of the Harbour and surrounds. This view is looking up the harbour towards the heads.

Garden Island

Several weeks ago, Julie of Sydney Eye and I spent a pleasant few hours visiting Garden Island, the home port for major naval fleet units based on the East Coast of Australia. One end of the island (fenced off from the base) is open to the public and houses a museum, cafe and various other bits and pieces, set amongst beautiful garden areas.

This is the small Rivercat type ferry that travels to and from the Island, only a few minutes from Circular Quay.

Weekend Reflections

Looking through the foyer of the Park Hyatt Hotel, which has one of the most beautiful locations in the city, under the Harbour Bridge and right opposite the Opera House.

Wharf Theatre

This should clarify last Saturday's reflection. All this week's photos (apart from yesterday) are taken in and around Sydney Theatre Company's Wharf Theatre complex.

Go Slow

Look what I found when I got home from work last Monday. I knew they were putting a sign in the street but I didn't know it was going to be right outside, or this big.

Yabun (4)/Sky Watch Friday

It was a great day for the kids, who were extremely well catered for with games, football, face painting and dancing. Here they are learning to zumba under a heavy, overcast sky.

Yabun (3)

There was a heavy political, government and aid agency presence. The Greens were doing a roaring trade.

Yabun (2)

As expected, there was a strong political message to Yabun.
