Monochrome Weekend - Exercises in Composition (6)

Contradicting the principles - This one is definitely positive/negative space and possibly edge of frame. I also really like the shadows. (F5, 1/80, 92 mm, ISO 200)

Exercises in Composition (5)

Contradicting the principles - Select one subject and using a shallow depth of field vary the point of focus on that subject and take a number of pictures at these various settings. (F6.3, 1/200, 250mm, ISO 200). Not a macro lens so the focus is just a little off.

Exercises in Composition (4)

Contradicting the principles - Take the ordinary, familiar and commonplace objects from your environment and stretch their visual representation. Here the aim is to make photographs that do not immediately answer the question "what is it". Concentrate on framing, positive/negative space and camera controls (think that is closest to this one, although basically I just liked the geometry). (F6.3, 1/125, 250mm, ISO 200).

Monochrome Weekend - Exercises in Composition

Wasn't trying to do anything in particular here except fill the frame, just something I saw that I liked, bit of a grab shot. (F6.3, 1/100, 250 mm, ISO 200)

The things you see

For some reason I don't pretend to understand, these youngsters are dressed as their favourite characters from a Japanese comic book series. I came across them in the Botanic Gardens. They seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Sky Watch Friday/A walk in the Gardens (5)

In all my wanders through the Gardens, I have never before seen this pond covered in waterlillies.
