Lunchtime, Hyde Park (2)
Don't know what all the fuss was about, all I could make out from where I was is that it had something to do with the new Blackberry.

Into the future
I always thought this old building was associated with the tramway that used to run between Arncliffe and Bexley early in the 20th century but have been unable to corroborate this. I had also hoped it would one day be restored. Unfortunately not (although admittedly it is difficult to tell what the final result of the renovations will be).

Weekend Reflections/My favourite building (4)
Some more of the internal features of this beautiful building.
Main entrance. Do you see the coat of arms?
Pretty sure these aren't in use but aren't they wonderful.
Side exit.

My favourite building (3)
One of the meeting rooms with its painted ceiling edges, carpet bearing the waratah emblem of the State of New South Wales and woodwork.

My favourite building (2)
Need the Ladies toilet? Go through the door next to the sign and along the walkway along one side of the open rectangle that is the centre of the building. See that white structure to the right half way along -
that's the ladies toilets. Can't remember where the men's are, possibly inside the building. Women would not have been catered for when the building was erected.
Looking back down the walkway to the door.

What the?
While I was snapping yesterday's sand sculpture, Darth Vader and his storm troopers turned up - no idea why. Don't know about the bloke in the sunnies, James Bond perhaps? I couldn't hang around and find out as I had to get to a meeting.

The Flying Kangaroo
I came across this sand sculpture advertisement outside Customs House at Circular Quay during the week.

IHS
I wondered what this marker that looks like a dollar sign was. Its a Christogram consisting of the first letters of the names of Christ in the Greek alphabet. Taken at Woronora cemetery.

Waitangi Day
Kiwi shoe polish was developed in Australia and is now part of the Sara Lee Corporation, so no connection to New Zealand there. Then I found this:
In 1906, William Ramsay had developed an unusually fine boot polish to which he gave the name ‘KIWI’. The choice of the name KIWI as a trademark was a tribute to William’s wife who was a native of New Zealand, home of the KIWI bird and New Zealand's national emblem. During Ramsay's visit to New Zealand he had noticed the quaint, wingless birds with their crisp, glossy plumage. The kiwi bird design looked good on the small round tin, and the name was easy to see and attractive to look at.

Did it
This is what I wanted to do for the last theme day. Not quite right, but getting there and at least I figured out how to do it.
