The dead centre of North Acton.
Taken on a cold, frosty morning in London. Looking back at this photo (taken in the early 1990s) I didn't realise what it was, I thought it was a churchyard. I knew I walked past every day on my way to and from North Acton Station and that we jokingly called it the dead centre of North Acton but it wasn't until I researched this post that I realised I lived across the road from
North Acton Cemetery which, now, looks absolutely fascinating. Obviously, at the time, it held no interest for me whatsoever. From 8 months living nearby I have only this one shot and don't recall ever setting foot in the cemetery proper. How your interests change as you get older.

But getting back to your post, that is interesting that you came to taphophilia only later in life.
That'll be a cemetery chapel. In our local cemetery there used to be three chapels. Two were demolished years ago and then this year they demolished the remaining one.
Great choice to go with black and white.

it seems a rather crowded cemetery for what looks like a smallish church. yes, this interest in gravestones is rather new to me as well. I have wandered through cemeteries but not paid much attention to them, just enjoying the quiet and the antiquity
I am amazed at the number of headstones with so much written on them. Looks like like an interesting place to see more closely! I have always been fascinated by cemeteries but I've been a little shy to reveal that interest in case I was labelled a weirdo! Now I'm beyond all that and just do it!

It's a perfect shot for monochrome. Funny how it is when we live somewhere, we don't notice the beauty. I lived in France for a number of years and I wish I had more pictures from that time.
For your one and only, Ann, this is an evocative monochrome of the little graveyard with the chapel. I can't tell you how I bemoan not having started my photography obsession much earlier... so many many photo opps lost. Same goes with with my interest in taphophelia. Just to say I relate.
