Newtown - people
He sat and drank beer while his friends tried (unsuccessfully) to knock the bottle off his head with a frisbee.

This one was taken during a recent photo walk in Newtown organised by Rob of Lightstalking. I'm surprised and delighted to say it won Photo of the Day. Thank you Jason, Rob and Lightstalking.

Art & About - Sydney Life
Nick and Peanut in front of his favourite photograph - Dean Sewell's Sydney Dust Storm. Nick used to be homeless and now lives in the same housing commission complex as the twins in my favourite entry, featured last week.

Art & About - CAMP Stonewall
"Working with leading gay & lesbian activists and the local community, artist Annie Kennedy has created a resonant and powerful installation exploring the broader struggle for gay rights mixed with personal "coming out" stories."

Pets in the City
I've previously introduced you to the cats of the Barracks Museum. Now meet their other pets, which live in a specially constructed house in the museum shop and, presumably, are kept well away from the cats.

The Twins by Ian Darling
This is my favourite photo from the Sydney Life exhibition which is displayed along both sides of the central walkway in Hyde Park.
The winner was Nicholas May's Australia Day, 2010 (the black and white of people sunbaking on the rocks).

Sky Watch Friday/Art & About - The Bike Bike
"Marvel at the construction of this enormous 12 metre high Penny Farthing bicycle, built from recycled bikes. Referencing our past and our future, The Bike Bike by Alasdair Nicol challenges us to think about Sydney transport, and its implications for our environment."
"The Bike Bike is a giant Penny Farthing sculpture made from pre-loved bicycles. Playing with notions of sustainability, the sculpture uses recycled and found cycles and found bicycles in such a way as to allow them to be reused after the installation period. The project draws attention to current trends towards bicycle commuting and celebrates the fact that Australia now sells more bicycles than cars each year. Set atop the grandeur of Martin Place, The Bike Bike calls to mind not only the heritage of cycling, but the evolution of Sydney's landscape and CBD development"
