Goodo ... question: What is the name of that building centre background with the pointy spire thingo? I have some good shots of that from further out in Sydney Cove. And in front of it is an old very small sandstone building with a clock tower. I guess I could walk down there ... but save my poor legs, m'dear.

Had to do some serious research on this one - ie find someone who could remember the name of the foodhall across the road from the building that we used to work in (the one with the clock tower). The foodhall is called Wintergarden which may or may not be the name of the building. The building is on Bridge Street, possibley on the corner of O'Connell. The building with the clock tower is the old Department of Lands building, sadly no longer occupied by us but by Planning. One of the most fascinating buildings I've ever worked in, the dome was built as an observatory, there are conference rooms in the square bits on roof. Its well worth a look and is usually open for Sydney Open.

I thought that building was called Wintergarden too but as you say that might just apply to the shopping centre and food court. I once did a training course near that building and seem to remember that the office tower was O’Connell Street Tower but not sure if that is still its name.
