I don't usually go anywhere near the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade but I was in town anyway so thought I'd wander up and take a look at the crowd. Far, far too many people for my liking so I wandered the outskirts watching the passers by before making my escape before the main event. I was nowhere near close enough to see the action anyway.

Hah! Snap. I did exactly the same thing coming home from Rozelle on Saturday. I wandered from George Street all the way up Oxford St to Taylor Sq and then on home. Even then (5pm to 6pm) the crowd was too jostly for my height and my balance.
I avoid some events because of the crowds too these days but I think it would be fun to watch up close.

Ann, the new developments at Pyrmont are in that direction but are quite a distance away from Darling Harbour. You would have to walk past all the wharves at Pyrmont to get there. There's a tram stop called Jacksons Landing up near the flats I featured today and it's a short stroll down to the water from there.
you have certainly captured the 'Fat Tuesday' essence.
whoa.. a big catch indeed.. very unique picture.
