Yes, I like the light on this one. I have just one challenge. His is looking down in such a defined way, that he must be looking AT something, perhaps a book or a dog. It would be nice to be able to see just the tip of this object too. I realise that would mean that you would not be so close to your subject. I think it is called leaving space for the viewer's interpretation.

I agree, Julie but I couldn't get one I liked. He was cutting onions but had a heap of scruffy shopping bags in front of the plate and his hands so all I was getting was the bags. Got a good one of hands and onions. Tried for an environmental portrait but it was messy with all the bags.

Hi Ann - When I first saw this portrait I thought Ah! a Thinker a ponderer of deeper things, a man after my own heart! But then I read that he was chopping onions!!
One day you must show us the hands
and the onions.
