Blue Tongue

I haven't seen a blue tongue lizard in my area for many years and thought they weren't around any more. Then I came across this one just outside the back door. It was fairly quiet in the middle of a weekday when I would not normally be home, so maybe they are around, just not at the same time as me. Also, there aren't as many cats and dogs around as there used to be.

I've only ever seen them well out of cities...I love the markings.

A real coincidence, one appeared in my garden last weekend, the first I have seen here for 20 years!

I keep hoping our blue tongue will show at a time when I have my camera .. never does.

Great photo!

Blue-tongues love snails and slugs so are a real boon to the organic gardener! They are in my yard too along with Bearded Dragons - wonderful to see ground-dwelling wildlife in suburbia.
