Spring

Each year, David Jones, one of Sydney's major department stores has a display of spring flowers throughout the store. I found out by chance this year from the barrista at my favourite coffee shot. Can't believe I nearly missed it. This year there were lots and los of orchids. As well as proteas (I think they are proteas). I also thing the big red one is a waratah, the state symbol of New South Wales  possibly a Gymea Lily. I still think the others are proteas of some kind and the coffee shot typo stays as it works rather well.

Dont think the big red one is a Waratah ... dont know what it is though.

I like the typo about the coffee 'shot'.

What a splendid display of flowers! Great shots.

I also vote against waratah in the top of the top image - and for "what is it". I think I found it: Gymea Lily, Doryanthes excelsa.

The smaller reddish flowers in that picture look more like waratah to me, although the colour is less intense than what I would expect.

Very beautiful! It's a wonder they are not saving up for the $37 mill. bill, just around the corner.

I had forgotten about it and thought I might go on the weekend but it seems it will be over by then ... so I will have to make do with your lovely shots. Yes it is a Gymea Lily. There appear to be Proteas and Banksias.
