Lest We Forget

They shall grow not old
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
LEST WE FORGET.

Excellent post, Ann. I have been to the March and will leave the Two-Up to you. I have heard there is an Aboriginal March at 1pm through Redfern so will attend that instead.

Very powerful day, filled with my favorite demographic!

Dear Ann, I join you all in remembering the sacrifices made by the brave ANZAC soldiers. May we never know such war again.

A fitting tribute Ann. I was disappointed to have visitors with us today so was not able to give my usual level of rememberance.

Your photo reminded me of a shot I took of the Cenotaph at Martin Place so found your composition interesting.

Thanks for this post, Ann. You inspired me to write about the ANZACs today too. I was very moved by one or two Anzac Days in Hyde Park. The people care.

The answer to your comment: The "Ahava" statue is from 1977. Yes, it is in the Billy Rose Art Garden which is just past the Dead Sea scrolls/Shrine of the Book.

I agree: two-up without old codgers is not worth the aggro. I am really really glad I went to the Aboriginal ANZAC Day in Redfern. Such a moving occasion and I was welcomed with embraces and soft kind words ... It was small enough to really get into the thick of things. You know you are in a unique place when the Governor is acknowledged as Auntie-Marie ...

Love that bronze sculpture.

Marie Bashir is everyone's auntie - I wish we could all call her that. She's lovely.
