Sydney Heritage (6)

The sandstone Department of Education building, constructed between 1912 and 1914 and occupied by the Department in 1915, with its neighbouring modern office towers.

That sandstone is a wonderfully warm colour. It must be possible to find out where that particular sandstone was quarried - Pinchgut, Goat, Cockatoo? They are all possibilities. That part of Sydney is very much like a canyon, don't you think?

Very much so. I used to work in one of the big highrises in that area and those cross streets are windtunnels.
