I agree that your sky looks so very different from mine. One of the issues with being on a tripod is that the tempatation is there to always take the shot framed the same way. Actually, I was quite pleased with the lack of blur and shake in mine. Might go that way again on Saturday night. Not sure where to go though. Will avoid CQ, but could do Elizabeth Bay or around near the Finger Wharf with MMChair as a backup if the crush is not too much. Only the early ones though.
I think if it was a static display I would have zoomed more but with the lights continually changing I preferred not to. Its such a pain to change from portrait to landscape on the tripod that I just be bothered. I think even at a really high ISO my lens isn't fast enough to hand hold under these conditions.
