Lord Howe Island - Pinetrees

Pinetrees is situated half way along the island, right on the lagoon. It has been operating as a guesthouse since the late 1800s and is now run by the 6th generation of the same family. While not luxurious it is comfortable, friendly and relaxing. No TV or radio in the rooms, the newspaper comes in on the afternoon plane and there is no mobile phone reception on the island. Nothing to do but relax. The food is superb.

I'd need the Internet ... doing nothing is not relaxing to my mind.

Looks like a wonderful place to relax, unwind, enjoy good food as well as the scenery Ann.

Ah now what Joan has said here resonates with me, too. I know that doing nothing is meant to relax one, but I do not find that to be the case. I like time to read the papers. I like time to check up my favourite sites. Being cut off adds to my anxiety.

I did go to the internet cafe once. I can cope without TV but I'm a news junkie and really missed having the radio (I took a little one but couldn't get reception) or regular newspapers. As for relaxing, no problem. There really is a lot to do there and I only read one and bit of the books I took with me. To really relax and have days where I did nothing but read I would have needed at least 10 days.
