Pests

The ibis is a nuisance. On the way to the station last week the path was blocked by about a dozen ibis dragging around and breaking open bags of garbage that had been left out for collection.

In my moshav/village it is the jackals who come at night and examine any trashcan that might have been left open and then leave garbage scattered on the road. But if they see you they slink away. Your ibis birds have a lot more chutspah! They hardly move when you try to shoo them.
Good shot. You caught them in the act.

Yep, agree. Disagreeable, filthy and ugly birds ...

They look like nice birds and all of them deserve the right to eat a free meal.

The problem is not the birds eating but the people putting trash out in cheap bags that can be torn open. Around here, people who use cheap bags that cats and dogs can tear open do not put them out for collection until just before the trash or garbage truck arrives. Then nothing has a chance to tear them open.

The rest of the people use trash cans made out of metal or plastic.

I totally agree with Abraham! Before looking at this photo I would never realize ibis could be considered as pests... but now I understand... Humans to blame, allways!

However, Ibis can life the lid off a rapid rail and fling bags of garbage out onto the footpath.

Such pretty birds! Ibis in Sydney, jackals in dina's village and monkeys in Shimla.... Absolute, uncoltrollable pests.

Over here you would only see them in zoo's, strange to think of them as a pest.

Crimony! Add the ibis to the list of birds, headed by pigeons and seagulls that are nothing more than winged rats...
